This Spring, the U.R.G.E. Foundation supported the Waikīkī Community Center in bringing their library to life for the children of their community.
The project was supported by Ziggy Marley’s concert at The Republik in Honolulu, where all proceeds benefitted the new library. Fans were encouraged to support the initiative not just by attending but also through donating and bringing books for the library’s collection. Before the show, Ziggy and his family visited the Waikīkī Community Center to see the project, the people, and all the great work that had gone into building the library.
The center celebrated the opening of its Keiki Lending Library in June, with book lockers stocked, new books arriving, and preschool children already exploring stories together. The library provides young children and their families with greater access to books and early literacy resources, creating a lasting resource for the Waikīkī community.
U.R.G.E. is incredibly thankful for the generosity of all who made this library possible, and proud of the future readers starting their literary journey at the Waikīkī Community Center.
