U.R.G.E. Foundation is celebrating an important milestone in its efforts to strengthen early childhood education in Jamaica, as Smart Minds ECI in Discovery Bay, St. Ann, becomes the first school in the foundation’s initiative to achieve accreditation from Jamaica’s Early Childhood Commission (ECC).
The Early Childhood Commission has high standards for staffing, programs, health, safety, and administration, as well as requirements for the physical environment and indoor/outdoor equipment. An accreditation from the ECC not only benefits students but also unlocks greater access to funding and development information, advice, and safety training for educators. These benefits help schools build a stronger foundation for long-term success.
Working alongside local partners and school communities, U.R.G.E. is helping institutions navigate the accreditation process and make the improvements needed to meet these standards. The achievement at Smart Minds ECI marks an encouraging step forward in the foundation’s ongoing commitment to creating safer, higher-quality learning environments for children across Jamaica.
U.R.G.E. looks forward to supporting more schools on their journey toward accreditation and expanding access to educational resources for students and educators alike. If you would like to support more schools in their journey to accreditation, donate today.
